This week we are studying the influence of the early Frankish kings upon the growth of the church.
In class today we discussed Islam in the 600 and 700s and today, including how Christians are still persecuted in many Muslim countries around the world.
The reading assignment is pages 161-175 in "The Story of the Church."

Grammar:
Having spent the last two weeks on prepositions, we're now moving onto verbs and diagramming sentences.

Mythology:
The students are working in two separate groups to put together mythology skits for the end of the week.
They also have Mythology worksheet 59, and should read pages 131-146 about Hercules.

Today we learned about pronouns, how they replace a noun that is repeated, and the four different types of pronouns: Personal, Demonstrative, Interrogative, and Indefinite.
Exercise 1 on pronouns is assigned for homework.

Mythology:
Continuing to learn about minor Greek Deities, pages 91 through 107 are assigned as homework reading.
Also, they should write a sentence on the first ten names in hte middle of the worksheet page, which describes the person, in as much detail as possible. no more than two sentences are allowed.
"Pandora was a woman." is not a proper description.
"Pandora was the overly curious woman who opened the box which unleashed troubles upon the entire world." is a proper description. Yes, you may use the example.

Theology/Religion:
This week we have studied Unit I in "The Story of the Church" covering the history of the Church up until the death of the apostles.
You should review pages 1-42 for a quiz on Friday. The quiz will consist of two parts, short answers and a paragraph.
In the short answers you will answer 5 out of 7 questions, with a complete sentence.
In the paragraph, you will pick one out of three possible topics, and write a paragraph about it. A proper paragraph includes a topic sentence, evidence and critical thinking in the middle sentences, and a concluding sentence.

Mathematics:
This week we have reviewed Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division.
Problem Set 3 is due Friday.
Perfect quizzes are accepted in lieu of one day of math homework.

Mythology:
This week we have studied the beginning of Classical Greek Mythology, including the overthrow of the Titans and the establishment of the Pantheon of Greek gods.
The worksheet sent home, pages 9 and 11, is due Friday, with the top half complete, answered in full sentences, on both sides.

Grammar:
This week we have reviewed nouns. There is no homework due Friday.

Science:
This week we have explored in discussion what science is, as well as the definition of experiments, hypothesis, observation, and variables.
You will be responsible for creating, performing, observing, and reporting your own scientific experiment next week. You are to work in groups of two or three, and your idea for an experiment, expressed in a few sentences, is due on a lined sheet of paper, with the names of those doing the experiment, on Friday.


Mr. Main teaches the 6th Grade Latin Course, and wrote "Pages 5-6 Latin, translate sentences 15-18"
